Udayamperoor SND Sankha Yogam No. 1084 put forward a proposed to start a new school with the mission in mind to bring about the backward people to the mainstream of the society. The school was started at 1951 June with the blessings of Sree Guru Devan. In the beginning we had I forum and IV forum only. The no. of students in a division never exceeded 30. In 1954 the I batch SSLC exams. The result was disastrous though.
Former minister Sri. M. K. Raghavan was the yogam general secretary then. He was the man who gave the building the appearance of a school. To improve the results the young teachers of the school started ‘Night Reading Classes’ Quite a new tactic in searching out the remedies for result improvement. Classes were held from 5.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. everything was done systematically teachers were posted according to a fixed timetable and the school acquired 96% result that year.
There begins the story of our renowned institution n making others feel jealous of us. Now we have become the very first choice of students from Ernakulam District. The success was not attained individually but with the co– operation of many the manger and the management sakha, an active PTA, teachers and the non – teaching staffs – every one contributes their own part for our school’s success. Starting from the first general manger Sri. M. K. Raghavan to Sri. Vellappally Nadesan has been generous in scaffolding the current supremacy of our institution over the others in the district.
Our honourable Manager Sri. Vellappally is behind the construction of a three storage building named as Prathap Singh Building with 42 class rooms. We got a reference library and reading room with more than 15000 books and it consists of a multi media theater too. We have separate computer labs for UP, HS & HSS sections.

We were the one among the first 56 schools across the state which were granted with plus two batches. We have been the first among SNDP Yoagam School also. We have many renowned personalities in the socio–cultural milieu who were the former students of our school. Sri. P. S. Gopinathan former secretary of law under Kerala Govt., Sri. Aryan Namboodiri Scientist USA, Sri. Sushama R. Nair Physician etc are a few among them.
Now we have round 3000 students in our school and we are the most sought after by students in Ernakulam District. We have no division falls and the numbers of divisions are getting a gradual increase. Sri. E. G. Babu is our Principal and Sri. R. Rajesh is our Head Master. The previous year we have actually out showed almost all our neibhouring schools in curricular and co – curricular sectors and we are heading forward carefully next to get our performance diminished in any sector.
We ensure a high standard of behaviour and discipline in which pupils are able to develop self-discipline, a strong sense of moral values, respect for another’s values, cultures and religion. We are providing a bias free curriculum thereby enabling all children to have access to the full curriculum irrespective of gender, ability, culture and social background. We closely monitoring children’s progress, providing regular reports and consultations with the parents.
Our philosophy is that education should promote thinking and creativity, rather than rote learning. We believe that young generation will do wonders if education let them explore their mind instead of relying on memory. Our learning is inquiry-based with emphasis on play-way methods, nurturing the curiosity and creativity of students encouraging them to take intellectual risks and developing critical and independent thinking.
